Here’s an important truth: Seven Liars Club authors will present a special panel discussion on “Liars Tell the Truth about Today’s Publishing Revolution” at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 1st at the Collingswood Book Festival, on Haddon Road in Collingswood, NJ. And although we are all members of the Liars Club, we promise to be honest and share some important facts about changes related to books and ebooks and bookstores that will affect all writers and readers today.
Featured at the panel will be Merry Jones, Kelly Simmons, Marie Lamba, Gregory Frost, Solomon Jones, Keith Strunk and Keith DeCandido. We’ll also be hanging out at the festival all day from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. at a special Liars Club tent (look for the sign of the guy with the flaming butt…not kidding), where we will be acting ridiculous, swapping lies, and signing our own books, including our just-released short story anthology Liar Liar! (In fact, this is the FIRST TIME we will be signing copies of Liar Liar! ever. For more info about Liar Liar! click here here!) The panel and the festival are free and open to the public.
As you may know by now, the Liars Club is a group of authors who basically lie for a living and work together to promote their love of books and reading. And partial proceeds from Liar Liar! will be going toward literacy programs (win, win!). Okay, enough, enough…
Here’s some info about the Liars you’ll meet at the Collingswood Book Festival…Bestseller Gregory Frost is author of Shadowbridge and Lord Tophet (Del Rey), both voted top fantasy novels by the American Library Association. Perennial teen favorite Marie Lamba (jeesh, that’s me…) is author of the new young adult novel Over My Head and of What I Meant… (Random House). Novelist Kelly Simmons is author of the critically acclaimed novels The Bird House and Standing Still (Simon & Schuster). Top-selling novelist Merry Jones wrote the just-released mystery Summer Session (Severn House Publishers), and the Zoe Hayes Mystery Series (St. Martin’s). Keith Strunk is the author of the insightful history The Prallsville Mills and Stockton (Arcadia). Solomon Jones is an Essence bestselling author whose novels include The Last Confession and Payback, and the just-released novel The Gravedigger’s Ball (St. Martin’s). Keith DeCandido has authored more than 40 novels, many related to TV and movie universes such as Star Trek and CARS, and his most recent book is Unicorn Precinct (Dark Quest Books).
During our panel discussion, we’ll answer audience questions and have a freewheeling talk about issues important to current and aspiring authors, and the opportunities recent changes in publishing offer to everyone. We’ll share the challenges facing authors, how independent publishing is altering the way everyone now approaches their work, and what all of this really means to the future of books, bookstores and readers. We’ll also give you some insider’s info on what books we are currently working on.
